What you will be doing in this role
As the Diabetes Educator you will provide expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health professionals in matters related to diabetes management. You will actively contribute to the development of best practice and evidence based clinical guidelines and protocols ensuring the service meets the National Safety and Quality Standards. Patient centred care will come naturally to you, and you will provide consistent communication regarding patient’s condition, progress and recommendations with the multidisciplinary team.
In this role you will report to the Allied Health Manager who is supportive and will empower you to excel in this role. This is a permanent part time position working two 6-hour shifts per week.
Who we’re looking for
- You’ll have current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or as another Health Professional with a minimum of 4 years’ experience
- You’ll hold a post-graduate qualification in Diabetes Education, with thorough knowledge of diabetes and therapy methods
- You’ll have experience working within an acute care setting and can work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
- You’ll have sound time management and organisational skills and be adaptable to shifting patient priorities
- You’ll be a strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- You’ll have full Australian working rights
