What you will be doing in this role 

Reporting to the Biomedical Engineering Manager and working as part of our dedicated Engineering team of four, you will oversee the maintenance, testing, and repair of medical equipment, ensuring adherence to Australian Standards and NSQHS requirements. 

In this role, you'll collaborate with internal teams, address inquiries, and inspect new and repaired equipment for safety and functionality. You’ll remove unsafe equipment, report issues, and provide feedback on potential equipment purchases. You’ll also perform routine testing in patient areas, maintain accurate service records, order parts, and ensure a clean, compliant workspace in line with hospital and safety policies. 

You will consistently follow Workplace Health and Safety principles, promptly reporting accidents, injuries, and hazards within 24 hours through Riskman. 

 

Who we’re looking for 

You’ll be a skilled and reliable Engineer who values patient safety, teamwork and technical excellence. To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

  • Formal Qualifications in Biomedical Engineering 
  • Ideally, you’ll have post-qualification experience as a Biomedical Engineer in a hospital environment or working in a service role for a medical device company, however new graduates are also encouraged to apply. 
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards and their application to medical equipment. 
  • In-depth understanding of hospital operations and medical equipment. 
  • Proven customer service experience. 
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like MS Dynamics Field Service, or similar. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team within a busy biomedical engineering department.
