What you’ll be doing in this role

Our Poon Ward is a 35-bed in-patient ward mix of medical, oncology, haematology and palliative care located within a modern private hospital in the North Shore. The ward offers excellent specialty care in different cancer services and palliative care. These include cancer treatment and clinical trial treatment administered by specialist nurses. We also administer blood product infusions, iron infusions, immunoglobulin infusions, intravesical treatment, and other specialist drug infusions which require day-only admission. We provide thorough training for RNs who wish to become chemotherapy-competent nurses.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering exceptional evidence-based nursing care and monitoring to patients
  • Administering in-patient chemotherapy
  • Provision of palliative care to end-of-life patients and associate nursing activities
  • Wholeheartedly contributing to a culture of clinical excellence and continuous quality improvement and
  • Actively supporting a culture of comradery and teamwork

 Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll bring excellent clinical skills
  • You’ll have a minimum two years recent experience in an acute care nursing environment, and ideally have chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration experience
  • Your friendly and positive way of working with people will be obvious in how you considerately and professionally communicate with patients, their families, visitors, and your colleagues
  • You’ll have high level written communication skills
  • You’ll be collaborative, adaptable, and be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • You’ll be committed to contemporary nursing practice and patient-centred care
  • You’ll be empathetic, systematic, and prepared to embrace Adventist Healthcare’s everyday values of excellence and integrity
  • You’ll hold a nursing degree with current AHPRA registration and, ideally have a strong interest in Oncology and Haematology
  • You’ll be willing to undertake relevant ongoing professional development and training
  • Preferably, you will have also completed the NSW Health DETECT, Between the Flags Program and Bloodsafe Clinical Transfusion Practice programs
