About the role
Join our team as a full-time Level 2 Nurse Unit Manager in the Neuroscience Department's Radley Ward. With 29 beds, Radley Ward specializes in a diverse range of neuroscience cases, providing care for acute stroke patients, pre-operative and post-operative brain and spinal procedures, neuro-oncological surgeries, and comprehensive adult neurology services.
In your role, you'll report to the Director of Medical Surgical and oversee a dynamic team of 45, including a Stroke Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and a Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) CNC, three Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), and team leaders. This position provides a chance to thrive in a fast-moving operational setting, engage in hands-on tasks, and collaborate with essential stakeholders both within and outside the organization.
Key responsibilities of this role will be:
- Lead and coordinate our nursing and support teams to ensure the highest level of care is delivered
- Compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS) and ACORN Standards along with AHCL policies and procedures
- Encourage and facilitate learning & development opportunities to empower nurses in the delivery of care
- Manage our work force to assist in achieving budget expectations
- Be a true leader by promoting the organisations key values along with driving patient and staff safety, positive culture, and a healthy work life balance
Who we’re looking for
- Previous experience as NUM preferrable but not essential. Team leaders with NUM acting experience are encouraged to apply.
- A Post Grad qualification in Leadership or Management or working towards it
- Demonstrated high level of clinical knowledge with a min of 2 years post grad experience ideally within the Neurosurgery space will be highly regarded but we will consider other backgrounds.
- Demonstrates commitment to process, quality and people improvement initiatives.
- Promotes a culture of safety and respect
- Strong interpersonal skills with an authentic & respectful communication style
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, senior executives and staff at all levels across the organisation
- Demonstrates ability to assess situations, consider solutions, make and communicate decisions and take appropriate action
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with full Australian working rights
