Promoting a healthy lifestyle has been a priority of Adventist HealthCare’s Sydney Adventist Hospital since the hospital first opened in 1903 as a Sanitarium—a place where people learned to stay well. ELIA Wellness, is a division of Adventist Healthcare and was formed to champion the cause of lifestyle medicine in research, policy and practice - the first of its kind in Australia in 2023.

The ELIA Lifestyle Medicine Centre will take a new, interdisciplinary approach to bringing health and wellness to the community. A team of Lifestyle Medicine doctors, health professionals and health coaches will work together with GPs to improve patient outcomes by providing support to individuals at risk of or living with cancer, diabetes, cardiac and other chronic diseases.

Here at ELIA Wellness, we believe that we are designed to thrive and the greatest gift we can give someone is to engage them in an active process of becoming aware and making positive choices that can help them fulfil their potential and have an abundant life.

Wellness is more than physical health or not being sick. It’s about thriving, not surviving, and involves a whole-person health approach to wellness that touches all aspects of life.

Our philosophy is to inspire and empower people to achieve whole-person health as defined through the 7 Dimensions of Wellness: Emotionally Thriving, Physically Energised, Socially Connected, Vocationally Enriched, Intellectually Engaged, Environmentally Attuned, and Spiritually Empowered.
