What you’ll be doing in this role

The San has assisted in the birth and care of babies for over a hundred years. We are dedicated to making our mothers-to-be welcome and comfortable, and to providing the very best of care from conception to birth and beyond. We are proud of our reputation and our ability to offer exceptional facilities for maternity services including:

  • A birthing unit with 9 dedicated birthing rooms, ensuites with baths and facilities to suit individual labour and birthing preferences
  • 2 dedicated birthing rooms specifically designed with birthing pools for water births
  • 14-bed Special Care Nursery
  • 40-bed antenatal / postnatal ward, including our women’s health facility.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing nursing and midwifery care to mothers-to-be in various areas of maternity
  • Delivering exceptional evidence-based nursing care and monitoring to patients
  • Wholeheartedly contributing to a culture of clinical excellence and continuous quality improvement and
  • Actively supporting a culture of comradery and teamwork

 Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll bring excellent clinical skills
  • You’ll be a Registered Midwife with at least 2 years’ experience in midwifery or, a Registered Nurse with 2 years’ experience in women’s health, obstetrics, and post-natal
  • You’ll have the ability to assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate care delivery needs of patients, with demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Your friendly and positive way of working with people will be obvious in how you considerately and professionally communicate with patients, their families, visitors, and your colleagues
  • You’ll be collaborative, adaptable, and be able to work independently and as part of a team, and available to work all shifts
  • You’ll be committed to contemporary nursing practice and patient-centred care
  • You’ll be empathetic, systematic, and prepared to embrace Adventist Healthcare’s everyday values of excellence and integrity
  • You’ll have a current nursing and/or midwifery registration with AHPRA and
  • Ideally, you’ll have the ability to work or rotate to all areas of maternity, including post-natal, birthing, special care, and women’s health
  • You will have also completed the NSW Health DETECT, Between the Flags Program and Bloodsafe Clinical Transfusion Practice programs.
