The Intensive Care Unit at the Sydney Adventist Hospital (the San) provides an exciting opportunity to work in a new unit with first-class facilities and a great team of medical, nursing and allied health staff. This unit is accredited for C6 training with the College of intensive Care Medicine (CICM).
Trainees work alongside Senior ICU CMOs and Specialist Intensivists with strong links to the Royal North Shore Hospital, and with opportunities to experience a diverse and interesting mix of cases, including surgical (incorporating neurosurgical, cardiothoracic and other specialties) and acute medical patients admitted through the onsite Emergency Department.

Accredited Registrar applicants must be at least 3 years post-graduation with at least 6 months’ ICU experience however, unaccredited applicants will also be considered.

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:
  • AHPRA Registration or eligible for same
  • MBBS or equivalent with at least 2-3 years post graduate experience
  • Existing practical experience required in resuscitation with aptitude to learn skills such as line insertion haemodynamic monitoring
  • Desire to pursue a career in ICU / ED / Anaesthetics
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary framework
  • Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex hospital based clinical environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current Working with Children Check


  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work in Intensive Care
  • Meet and maintain hospital accreditation criteria for ICU Registrar appointment CICM training program
  • Primary examination for FACEM/FCICM/FANZCA
