The San is seeking new staff for the Patient Services team and specifically for admission clerks in the Emergency Department who complete the admissions for new patients coming into the Emergency care ward. Somebody who demonstrates a willingness to work a range of shifts including morning shifts 6am - 2pm, evening shifts 2pm to 10pm and night shifts 11pm - 6.15am. Full on-the-job training will be provided within paid shifts. Admissions include health insurance fund checks, admission data entry, creating informed financial consent (patient estimates), attaining patient authority for admission and payments, and receiving Emergency entrance fee / payments (as the San is a private hospital).

Responsibilities include:

  • Patient registration
  • Admission paperwork
  • Health Fund Checks
  • Informed Financial Consent paperwork
  • Attaining patient payments and signature permissions

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:


  • Excellent presentation, phone manner, empathetic interpersonal skills
  • Confidence working in a clinical environment
  • Flexible in availability, willing to work on a rotation of shifts
  • Team player, working closely with clinical staff and other rostered admissions staff


  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous experience in healthcare
  • Office administration experience and qualifications
