What you will be doing in this role
As a contracted On-Call Ultrasound Technologist, you will provide safe, responsive and high-quality ultrasound services outside routine operating hours, including evenings, overnight periods, weekends and public holidays.
Working autonomously, you will attend the hospital when required to perform urgent and clinically necessary examinations, delivering high-quality imaging while ensuring patient safety, dignity and comfort. You will work closely with radiologists and clinical teams, escalate concerns appropriately and maintain accurate documentation within RIS/PACS.
You will also maintain your professional competency and knowledge of clinical protocols, emergency procedures and after-hours workflows to ensure consistently safe and effective patient care.
You are an experienced sonographer who is confident working independently in an acute hospital environment. You remain calm and responsive when priorities change and bring strong clinical judgement, communication skills and a patient-centred approach.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Post-qualification sonography experience and the ability to work autonomously
- Competency across ultrasound examinations relevant to the after-hours service
- Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
- Experience in Emergency Care, inpatient or acute hospital environments
- Previous after-hours or on-call sonography experience highly regarded
- Ability to meet the availability and attendance requirements of the on-call roster
- Recognised Medical Sonography qualification - essential
- Current ASAR accreditation - essential
This role is ideal for an experienced sonographer looking to use their clinical expertise in an autonomous on-call capacity while supporting patients when urgent imaging is required.
