What you will be doing in this role

As a casual Registered Nurse on Kress 5 Ward, you’ll be an integral part of our caring team, providing expert, compassionate care to patients undergoing recovery from heart and lung surgeries, as well as other cardiac and medically related conditions. You’ll work a flexible mix of shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and a combination of morning, afternoon, and night shifts. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you’ll have the support and guidance you need to thrive in a dynamic, patient-centred environment. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring our patients’ safety, comfort, and recovery, all while building meaningful connections with them and their families.

Kress 5 Ward is a 24-bed unit specialising in Cardiothoracic care, where you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a passionate team across three dedicated cardiac areas. This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to be part of a close-knit team where ongoing education and professional development are strongly encouraged. With a focus on collaboration and continuous learning, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your expertise in the Cardiac specialty while making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Who we’re looking for

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years' post-registration experience.
  • Ideally, experience working within a Cardiothoracic care environment or a strong interest in specialising in this area.
  • A sound understanding of Cardiothoracic procedures, postoperative care, and the management of heart and lung surgeries.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering patient-centred care.
  • Full Australian working rights and a flexible approach to working a rotating roster, including weekday, weekend, morning, afternoon, and night shifts.
