What you will be doing in this role

In this role, you will conduct overnight sleep studies, known as polysomnography, to assist in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy on our Paediatric Ward. You’ll prepare patients by explaining procedures and attaching monitoring equipment, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the study. Technicians also calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, monitor data, and document findings to assist healthcare providers in diagnosis and treatment planning.

We have 2 casual roles available and our supportive team will provide comprehensive training. Following the initial 3-week training period you’ll need to be available to take on 2 or more casual shifts per week between 6PM and 6AM.

Who we’re looking for

  • You'll ideally have a degree in health sciences, mathematics, respiratory therapy, or a related field.

  • You'll ideally bring experience from a sleep lab or a related field.

  • You'll enjoy troubleshooting and finding solutions to ensure smooth operations during sleep studies.

  • You'll be comfortable with technology and possess strong computer skills to manage and monitor equipment effectively.

  • You'll have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently, ensuring accurate data collection and patient safety.

  • You'll interact with children, parents, and healthcare professionals, so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

  • You'll be available for casual shifts between 6 PM and 6 AM, twice a week, contributing to our flexible scheduling needs.

What to expect

Successful candidates will be required to complete a range of pre-employment checks and assessments. These vary and could include professional references, functional questionnaire, a national police check, working with children check, vaccination evidence, among others.
