What you will be doing in this role
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our warm and supportive Anaesthetics and Perfusion team in a full-time role. This is a rewarding opportunity for a nurse with advanced clinical skills in cardiothoracic anaesthetics and perfusion who is ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll be a key part of a team that values collaboration, clinical excellence, and continuous learning. Reporting to our approachable and fair Nurse Unit Manager – Anaesthetics, you’ll be supported to grow professionally while making a real impact on patient care.
In this role, you’ll provide expert care, mentor other nurses, and contribute to service improvements and education initiatives. You’ll also be part of the on-call roster, offering support in more complex clinical situations. We’re looking for someone who communicates well, enjoys working as part of a team, and brings a calm, confident presence to the clinical environment. Proficiency with anaesthetic equipment, heart-lung bypass machines, and cell-saving is essential, and experience with ECMO is a bonus (training can be provided if needed). Who we’re looking for
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and full Australian working rights
- At least 3 years’ recent experience in anaesthetics and perfusion, ideally within cardiothoracic care
- Confident and skilled in using heart-lung bypass machines and cell-saving equipment, with ECMO experience or a willingness to learn
- Ready to work full-time Monday to Friday and be a reliable, supportive member of the on-call roster
- Strong communicator who thrives in a team environment and values collaboration
- Quick thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, especially in fast-paced, high-pressure clinical settings
- Passionate about ongoing learning and contributing to improvements that make a real difference in patient care
