What you will be doing in this role
Join NSW’s largest private Hospital as the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Level 2 on our Oncology/Palliative/Haematology ward, internally known as the Poon Ward.
The Poon ward has 35 beds and provides services such as pre and post oncology surgeries, cancer treatments, management of cancer related symptoms and palliative care. The Poon ward is part of the extensive and award-winning Cancer services provided here at the San.
Reporting to the hands on and supportive Director of Medical Surgical, you will be accountable for managing and leading a dedicated team of Nurse’s and AIN’s to ensure the highest level of care is delivered and in compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS). You will be supported in this role by a Palliative Care Case Manager and Team Leader. To ensure that you are set up to succeed in this role you will also be provided with an ongoing buddy/mentor. This is a Monday – Friday role with the ability to have flexibility on your start and finish times.
Who we’re looking for
- You’ll have a min of 12 months leadership experience either in a Team Leader, Acting NUM or NUM role
- You’ll be highly skilled in the areas of Oncology, Palliative Care and Haematology
- You’ll hold or are currently working towards a Post Grad qualification in Leadership or Management
- You’ll be able to demonstrate commitment to process, quality and compliance and have a solid understanding of the national standards.
- You’ll have a history of promoting a culture of safety and respect
- You’ll have strong interpersonal skills with an authentic & respectful communication style and are able to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams and senior executives
- You’ll hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and have full Australian working rights.
