Who we are
The Sydney Adventist Hospital, known locally as The San, is a large (500+ bed) acute care private and teaching hospital located at Wahroonga recognised for the provision of excellent care across a broad range of health services.  Located in Sydney's Upper North West the Hospital is at the forefront of the Australian healthcare landscape in delivering digitised information and communications technologies both purchased and self-developed to over 4,400 clinicians, educators and support staff by utilising both physical and virtualised infrastructure.

What we do
The San is one of only a small number of hospitals who is approaching the full digitisation of its operational ecosystem.  Its Information Services department is a leader in the sector with many successes to date including a full complement of core applications, electronic medical record systems (EMR), and integration across information, biomedical and facilities management technologies – all realising efficiencies and improvements to the organisation.

Our suite of integrated, self-developed applications and services—works to deliver measurable financial and clinical results for our patients, staff and doctors and we are now looking to expand our team of software developers.

How we do it
We are unique in the Australian health care environment in the way we deliver information and communications technologies:

  1. The Information Services department’s focus is on “service provision to business and clinical objectives” and has already demonstrated how technology can be used tangibly to benefit the business it supports.
  2. The hospital’s portfolio of systems and applications in use include both internally developed and purchased applications. The internally developed applications include the core patient administration system and main electronic medical records systems which include native mobile apps, all of which gives the hospital much higher control over its ability to deliver IT services.
  3. The environment leverages convergent technologies to enhance the information captured digitally eg: The native mobile EMR app can capture a photograph (of a wound) securely and directly into the patient’s electronic medical record. In Emergency Care doctors digitally dictate directly into the patient’s record.  These advancements are all made with a view to improving the experience of doctors, staff and patients.
  4. Emerging technologies are being actively implemented to enhance patient care - systems such as RTLS use passive RFID sensor networks for patient tacking and identification. This drives EMR systems automation within the clinical environment enabling efficiency, safety and patient engagement gains across the patient journey.
  5. Our commitment to contribute to eHealth initiatives in Australia with approved information relating to a patient’s hospital treatment being transferred to My Health Record.  Research data is actively being gathered by the hospital and Natural Language Processing initiatives are running.

Culturally, we are a values-based healthcare facility where the Mission of the Hospital underpins how people interact with each other.  Teamwork and collaboration is engendered across clinical, administrative and service areas and enables great outcomes as staff have a common vision of Caring for the body, mind and spirit of our patients, colleagues, community and ourselves.

What you will be doing
The IS Software Developer is pivotal to working in a team that enhances and maintains our wide repertoire of in-housed developed applications especially our core administrative admissions and discharge modules and clinical systems including our electronic medical record (EMR).  Our applications also include mobile apps, business and artificial intelligence systems. The successful adoption of new or modified technologies is our way as we continuous change on the Hospital’s digitisation journey.  If successful you will be working with MS Full Stack .Net Developer C#, Desktop Development, REST webAPI, SQL Server
