What you will be doing in this role

We are seeking a committed and professional Operating Theatre Assistant to join our surgical team in delivering exceptional, patient-centred perioperative care. In this important role, you will assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating theatre, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are fully prepared, sterile, and ready for use. You will also play a key role in cleaning and restocking the theatre, always maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and sterility.

You will provide support in the safe and respectful preparation of patients for surgery, including assisting with patient transfers, positioning, and arranging beds to ensure comfort and safety.

A key aspect of this role is ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, infection control protocols, and quality assurance standards, contributing to the overall success and safety of surgical procedures.

This is a permanent Mon-Fri role, ideally to work an afternoon shift between 1pm and 10.30pm.

 

Who we’re looking for

  • Ideally, you'll have experience in an operating theatre or a similar clinical setting.
  • A good understanding of infection control and sterilisation procedures is important, along with a genuine commitment to creating a safe space for patients and staff.
  • You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills will help you connect with others easily.
  • You’ll need the physical stamina to stand for longer periods and assist with patient transfers when needed.
  • Holding a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance and a First Aid Certificate would be great, though not essential.

 

What to expect

Successful candidates will be required to complete a range of pre-employment checks and assessments. These vary and could include professional references, functional questionnaire, a national police check, working with children check, vaccination evidence, among others.
