What you will be doing in this role
We are looking for a full time Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 for our Neuroscience Department (Radley Ward). Our Radley ward is a 29-bed neurology & neurosurgery ward which offers a dynamic mix of cases across the neuroscience specialty including acute stroke unit care, pre and post brain and spinal surgery, neuro oncology surgeries and general adult neurology cares.

Reporting directly to the Director Medical Surgical, you will be accountable for managing and leading a team of 45 direct reports to ensure that the highest level of care is delivered in compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS). The team is made up of a Stroke CNC and DBS CNC, 3 x CNS and a CNE plus 10 team leaders. This role offers you the opportunity to work in an operationally fast-paced, hands-on environment while also working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll have previous experience as NUM - preferrable but not essential. Team leaders with acting NUM experience are encouraged to apply.
  • You’ll hold a Post Grad qualification in Leadership or Manager or working towards it
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge with a min of 2 years post grad experience ideally within the Neurosurgery space, but we will consider other backgrounds.
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate a commitment to process, quality and have a solid understanding of the National Standards.
  • You’ll have strong interpersonal skills with an authentic & respectful communication style and can work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and senior executives.
  • You’ll hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with full Australian working rights
