Through the generous support of San Foundation and its donors, we are expanding our research capacity in our Prostate Service and offer this exciting role for a Prostate Research Fellow for the next clinical year from Feb 2023. The prostate research fellow works closely with urologists and radiology to develop and implement research projects that enhance our clinical and academic reputation in Prostate services.

The successful applicant role includes collaborating with clinicians to develop new study proposals, preparation of grant applications, undertake research activities and data management & analysis, prepare manuscript and submit reports. If the applicant is registerable as a medical practitioner the role will include clinical activities such as surgical assisting and participation in patient care in accordance with their scope of practice.

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy and an understanding of confidentiality, privacy and information handling principles
  • Ability to function in a team environment and use interpersonal skills to communicate effectively.
  • Appreciation of safety standards and strong focus on quality of work

 Desirable:

  • Experience in writing research papers and grant applications
  • Experience as a first author in one or more publications on impactful body of work.
  • Experience and/or interest in PET and / or MRI
  • Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
  • Holds AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner and has completed at least twelve months experience working in a surgical unit with an interest in training in urology; or holds RACS Urology specialisation and seeking sub-specialisation in Prostate disease.

Requirements:

You will be given the opportunity to provide required documentation as you progress through the recruitment process:

  • Depending on the position, a paid Working with Children Check and/or proof of immunity against infectious diseases
  • Willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
  • At least two current work-related referees
  • Have rights to work permanently in Australia
